****** Incoming student system requirements *******
Please note that Flagler does not have any specific system requirements for students who wish to use their personal systems on campus.
We do recommend that our Graphic Design majors use a Macintosh versus a PC. All of our Graphic Design classes are taught using Macintosh computers. Please see the frame below on discounted Dell and Macintosh hardware and Microsoft software. Periodically, some of our Business Major courses were taught using software specific to the PC platform. Please note that these are NOT requirements, only recommendations.
Flagler College uses Microsoft Office as the default word processing software. We recommend that incoming students have Office for either Macintosh or PC. Again, this is not a requirement for a student’s personal equipment.
Flagler College's Office of Technology Services is located on the third floor of the Proctor Library and is responsible for the campus computing equipment, network, operations and services.
All full-time faculty and staff are provided computer work stations in their offices that are connected to the campus network. Residence Halls have both wired and wireless access to the Internet.
The College provides every employee and student with a flagler.edu e-mail account.
Four classrooms in the Library are equipped with state-of-the-art computers for classroom use. In addition, open-access computer labs are available on the first and third floors. There is an Internet Café on the first floor with Internet jacks for use by students with laptops equipped with Ethernet cards. There is wireless Internet access throughout the Library.
Many classrooms on campus are equipped with computers, projectors, Smart Boards, and other devices designed to enhance the learning experience. There are three Graphic Design classrooms equipped with the latest in technology from Apple Computer and professional-grade software that is currently used in the graphic design industry.
Students have access to black & white and color printers for printing out class projects. Prints are charged at $0.10 for black and white and $0.50 for color. Students are given their first $50 of prints per semester at no charge.
In addition to the Library and residence halls, there are several other wireless hotspots around campus including the West Lawn, the rotunda and mezzanine in Ponce de Leon Hall, and the Ringhaver Student Center.
New students need to download and read the Technology Services notice.
