This course introduces students to the study of juvenile crime and deviance. Included is an exploration of the way delinquency impacts schools, neighborhoods, and the criminal justice system. Major theoretical approaches to the understanding of delinquency are considered along with an examination of currently controversial issues in juvenile delinquency. Special consideration is given to the role of drugs, the media, and other environmental forces in promoting and maintaining patterns of delinquency.
