Race and Crime (CRM 451)

This course will focus on the intersectionality of race, ethnicity, crime, and the functioning of the criminal justice system. We will investigate the impact of race, ethnicity on the level of criminal activities, and the response recation of our system as a representative of our society. A number of extra-legal factors (such as age, gender, social class) will be integrated into the understanding of this interaction and criminal occurences. A major portion of this course will be to investigate the research and theories that exist dealing with this topic.This course is cross-listed as SOC 451.
